Good question..... well as far as I know the center is not normally open on sundays so not many people will know we are there, at this point in time. BUt I am sure collectivly we can come up with a solution for security. weather it be barriers etc. But for now until we know for sure that we can make this work nobody will know we are there except the director.

Tires - I understand the class has rules and if the tire you use now doesn't work, are you willing as a group to find a tire that will work and you all use it? I mean that could be a simple solution. If you do not want to change the tire that will be up to the class as a whole. I will not make that change. so how about we see what happens on the test day first.

You never seize to amaze me kbo.

If you do not want to change tires. that is fine with me. But spec classes can change a tire as long as the entire class agrees to make the change. PEOPLE WANT TO RACE ! I am sure as grown men we could find a way.

an yes it can hanlde the power and there is also a stand by generator that was installed as a back up for the center in case there were ever an evacuation. power will not be a problem. BUT THATS WHY I PLAN ON TESTING ANYWAY.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW KBO? (I.E. Like what kind of T.P. they have so your hemroids don't flare up. Or maybe what kind of food they serve. )

I am sorry but I wished you would help as much as you can hinder !

Looks like this surface might require a pretty soft rubber tire (somewhere in the CS22 range), along with a little downforce to make decent handling a possibility. Maybe the Vintage TA chassis/motor rules coupled with a TC body might work for a spec class, provided that we find a tire that works w/o leaving a mess on the floor. My plan was to bring a car set up with a generic TC body and CS22s on all 4 corners, and see how things went when we did some testing. The 28th works for me - hopefully a few others willing to donate some time might be able to join me. :)

Bugoff75....Great job as usual on the video! This is the first time I had a chance to stare at it....(lots of OT at work)

Place looks great and I hope Russ can make something happen there. The current surface looks to be an issue with traction, so hopefully some carpet, down the road, will make this place go.

I'm all for testing stuff to see what may work on the current floor next week.

Russ, The only thing I see is what are you going to use to make the track with? PVC??? 2"X4"'s??? Road Rails??? Will they let you store it there, or will you have to pack and unpack every raceday?

I'm not sure how it would be designed (on a floor like that) without moving under normal race conditions....

Also, with a place like that, I know they will want some proof of insurance, so I would look into that first before you get too deep into planning and materials. I don't think a standard release form will do....

I know you mentioned ROAR as a possibility, but they have guidelines on how a ROAR track need to be constructed (minimum barrier height and lane width, outer retaining walls, etc)

The track would have to be built to their specs, to get the proper coverage.

Check the ROAR site for specifics....

From what I saw I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised at the current surface. Its some sort of all purpose rubber material. Hard enough to bounce a basketball off of but soft enough to press a finger into.

Either way really if things work out it will be a new place to hang out and get some racing in. Very nice facility hope everything falls into line.

Tires tested in the video were not optimal at all. (very old - hard - and worn) Just happened to be the first things I grabbed in a moments notice. Was actually very surprised the car actually ran at all. Didn't strip any gears and the front end didn't fall off! For that Half 8 with a 3 cell Lipo just moving at all was a feat of greatness.

UPDATE !

quote]Also, with a place like that, I know they will want some proof of insurance, so I would look into that first before you get too deep into planning and materials. I don't think a standard release form will do[/quote]

1. Ray you were right. They require a certificate of liability insurance. I did some research and it seems that alot of places make clubs get these so that they will not get sued. I am going to be call a place tomarrow.

2. once i get the piece of paper then we can test. Until then no testing. sorry boys. But once I get the paper then we are set up for january 10th.

3. track materials. well I am looking to do pvc. 2", but I am trying to find a supplier that will give me a break in bulk. If not then I may do 2 x4's

So if anyone has any connections or knows of a place that i can call for pvc and fittings, please let me know. thanks again Russ.

btw barry- I think a nuetral set up would be fine, but I am thinking purples in the rear and doubles up front. just a thought. :)

We can try that too, along with several variations on that theme. I have plenty of tires with which we can test, both foam and rubber.

Tom I really do not know. I never even knew ray had carpet. But let me ask you this, would you and the other racers be interested in running on the gym floor?

I would like to see a show of hands from anybody who would be interested. I need to know because I am at a dead end. I am looking at putting out alot of money for insurance and track barrier and really do not want to lose this place to race but I also can't not afford to take the hit. I am almost wondering if we as a group organize a club again. The facility is perfect. I just do not know If i can be the only person trying to lay down a track with or with out carpet, and not recieving any help.

So what I really need is eveyones input. I know there are alot of you reading this forum but i TRUELY NEED OPIONS !!! before I take this leap. really I am doing this for you guys. I do not even own a touring car or micro or 1/12th car. BUt I would if I can get a good following and some support hear. I miss racing indoors and I know there are alot you who miss having a competitive place to race that is big and worth coming too.

PLEASE OPEN your mouths and tell me what you think, we are running out of time.

thanks Russ. W
