First day of vacation, and time to plot out a plan for the 2010 onroad season!
I really think this will be a breakout year for our style of R/C parking lot racing!
With all of the new high tech stuff coming out just about everyday, it'll be good to just focus on having fun racing, instead of having the latest and greatest technology.
First, I would like to just give you all a general idea on what's on the agenda before I formally map out a schedule....
We're definately going to stay on course, and offer our mainstay classes....Vintage, Nitro Vintage, RCGT, M-Chassis, and this year, adding F-1 to the mix!
As far as locations, as of right now, I want to base the season around the special events I can get at
New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP)
I have an email to them as I type this, and waiting for a response.
I'll be promoting these races as "Big" events on R/C Tech (
http://www.rctech.net) in the "Racing Forum"
The Vintage Grand Prix people already contacted me to again do their event at NJMP on
Sunday May 23rd, so you might as well ink that date in, and consider that as the first big SJCCR race of the season!
As far as more local racing, it is my thought to continue to revive Wagner Park and actually consider
painting a permanent layout so anyone can go there at anytime and practice/bash when there is no organized race going on.
The layout would have some different options similar to Jackson, so the course can be easily changed once in a while.
This should really help racers (especially newer racers) get some practice time in before race days!
I would also factor in an oval around the outside of the road course, since we have quite a few oval guys looking for a local place to race too....It's also possible that we could include an oval class at our road course races, but need to see what kind of turnout that would bring first. Otherwise, the option would be open for the oval guys to race on their own day.
We'll still do a few races at Nifty Fiftys once in a while too....Not as many as last year though....
It's just a lot of work to get a track set up around the patron parking at 4pm, and frankly, with the amount of people showing interest this season, I'm not sure we will have enough room (and time) to run a full program before they close.
That's it for now....I'll let you know when I hear from NJMP....
